I am just an adult trying to make sense of what it means to be a professional, female, and Nigerian American living in this crazy, fun, and serendipitous world. After starting my professional career in higher education and going through some relational heartbreaks, I realized I was a young woman planning my life around a husband, two-story house, and a picket fence that didn't exist. Recognizing and accepting that I had none of those things, coupled with a strong desire to move forward with my life wholeheartedly, God began to reawaken within me an idea that would ultimately become Chasing Proverbs and The Sweet Life (a small section of this website where I share my thoughts)!

The idea of Chasing Proverbs came to me a decade ago after reading the book, "Captivating" by John & Stasi Eldredge. This book touched briefly on the Proverbs 31 woman and how we are often told to aspire to be her when the reality is, this woman is what many of us feel is far TOO PERFECT to become. Clearly, the entire book of Proverbs provides wisdom on how to live a righteous life as does Proverbs 31. However, what does living her truth, OUR truth, and Proverbs truth look like today, tomorrow, and years from now?

The idea for The Sweet Life, another section of this site where I write my own personal thoughts, came from the meaning of my name Eunice which translated in Greek means, "Sweet Victory". I believe names hold tremendous significance in the lives we live and it seemed fitting that I would name the section about my life and interests after something that encompasses every aspect of my life, the sweet victories and yet not so sweet victories (notice what I did there).

The purpose of this website is to bring healing, encouragement, and hope not only to myself but to other everyday women like me. I desire to either tell, go out, chase down, and/or bring the stories of women to light that speak to the hearts of who we all are. To humanize the judged and the marginalized as well as to bring perspective and truth to life.

By everyday women I mean, EVERY WOMAN. From celebrities, to the stay at home moms, single moms, students, homeless, etc. we are all EVERYDAY WOMEN. With that being said, I believe being a Proverbs 31 woman and enjoying a sweet life means: glorifying God every way that we can, in everyday that we can!

Regardless of the approach you take to spirituality, I hope you can draw something from this site. I invite you on this personal journey with me. A journey that is really all of our journeys together, because ultimately whether we realize it or not, I believe we are all in some way CHASING SOMETHING SWEET.

Written down so we’ll know how to live well and right,
    to understand what life means and where it’s going;
A manual for living,
    for learning what’s right and just and fair;
To teach the inexperienced the ropes
    and give our young people a grasp on reality.
There’s something here also for seasoned men and  women ,
    still a thing or two for the experienced to learn--
Fresh wisdom to probe and penetrate,
    the rhymes and reasons of wise men and women.

-Proverbs 1:1-6 MSG
