Thankfulness

Picture
These last few months have felt like 5 billion months. So much has happened and life has had its fair share of challenges, but God has remained faithful through it all. With all the craziness going on in this world and each of our lives, I am appreciating thanksgiving this year more than I ever have. Especially within the United States, a very individualistic society separated by so much turmoil, I appreciate that one day of the year everyone in this country is pushed into the art of practicing thankfulness. For one day, some if not all, are focused on family and community. People everywhere are giving back, receiving joyfully and sitting at the table together. With the busyness of life this is so important and I wish I could say this was something we practiced in our society everyday and then some.

There is not a whole lot of days left in this year, and as I look back, there is so much to be thankful for. Yes, there were the hurts, the hurdles and the challenges, but oh how many blessings there were. So in honor of the day, here is just a few things I am thankful for today and really not just today, every single day.
  1. Second chances. Which really should be like a hundred chances. This just isn't in terms of my mistakes, but the opportunity to tell my loved one's today that I love them, and not just say it, but show it. Which brings me to my next one...
  2. My dad. I am thankful for second chances and that my daddy is still alive. If you know me, you know that about a month ago we almost lost him, however, by the Grace of God. The God of second, third, and fourth chances. The Giver of life and good gifts, my father is alive and getting better and stronger each day. I am SO thankful that I get a second chance to pursue and grow a relationship with him. To really accept him for him and the love that he gives our family.
  3. Having a massive Family (Both blood relatives and friends who are like family).
  4. My Nigerian heritage.
  5. Opened doors and...
  6. Closed doors.
  7. God not always giving me what I want, but always giving me what I need. That God sees it best to give me what I need, but to fulfill it in such a way that He sees best to fulfill that need. Let's be real there are times we have needs and we want God to fulfill that need our way, not His. So thank God he fulfills our needs in the best way!
  8. For the random internship that came up out of nowhere just when I was losing hope if I'd ever find one.
  9. For giving me good Health...
  10. Happiness...
  11. Hope and...
  12. A future...God willingly lol

Today I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! In a society so focused on self it is a good reminder to acknowledge the "we" and "community". Life is better together and that is something worth remembering every day. Be thankful and show gratitude to the ones who have meant so much to you either in a good way or bad way, because both make like equally as enriching.

What are you thankful for today? Feel free to comment and share below!

Many blessings!

2 "Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.
3 For the LORD is the great God, the great King above all gods.
4 In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him."
-Psalm 95: 2-4 NIV
